Renew Your Driver s License in Arizona

Before your driver s license expires in Arizona, you need to renew it with the

Department of Transportation DOT

Motor Vehicle Division MVD in order to continue to drive legally.

When to Renew Your AZ Driver s License

Your Arizona driver s license is valid until you are

65 years old. During this time you will not need to renew your license; however, you will need to visit an AZ DMV office every 12 years to update your photo and take a vision exam. See the Update Your AZ Driver s License Photo section below for more information.

When you renew your license when you are

60 years old or older, the ADOT will issue you a driver s license valid for 5 years.

You will not receive a renewal notice before your Arizona driver s license expires.

You can only renew your AZ drivers license in person. You cannot renew online or by mail.

Arizona driver s license is suspended, you ll need to reinstate your license before you can renew.

Renewing your Arizona Car Registration

Renewing your tag is an easy process in Arizona, as you are given the option of renewing in person, online, by phone or via mail.

Arizona allows drivers to renew their registration online, provided they meet certain state requirements. In order to register online, visit www.servicearizona.com/ and follow the instructions given.

To renew your Arizona vehicle registration in person, find your local MVD office from this list. You will also be required to present the owner s address and co-owner s, if applicable, license plate number, vehicle s VIN number, mileage, lienholder s information if vehicle is financed, renewal notice or registration certificate and a credit or debit card, personal check, money order or cash to pay any required fees.

You are only eligible to renew your tag by mail if you re out of state or can t make it into an MVD office. Use the envelope attached to your renewal notice to send in your payment and notice. If you didn t obtain a renewal notice, you can use your present registration instead.

Finally, if you don t have the time or the ability to renew your Arizona vehicle registration online, by mail, or in person, the state of Arizona allows you to do so by phone. Simply call 1-888-713-3031 and make sure to have your renewal notice or current registration on hand. The MVD will require you to pay your fees over the phone with a debit or credit card. The automated service is available 24 hours a day. Once again, remember to have an emissions test done on your vehicle beforehand.
